A surprising recipe for cutting: the Starred vanilla strawberry cake ! We love its two-tone side and especially its softness! Don't forget the white chocolate icing to add when serving...
How good it is to see the arrival of juicy and colorful fruits! Strawberries are here, and with them the desire for strawberry desserts: mousses, tarts and cakes. So I wanted to integrate the gariguette strawberries within a vanilla flavored cake, a two-taste cake in short.
How to make a star cake?
At first glance, one wonders how I could have achieved this pink strawberry star in the center of the cake. Don't worry, nothing too complicated, just a technique to know...

To simplify things, you need to realize two cakes. The first will be at the strawberry (pink), the second will be at the vanilla (yellow). Once the pink cake is cooked, cut into slices, you will need to get somestar shaped cookie cutter like these and cut out of multiple stars that you will line up in the vanilla cake batter. Child's play, I tell you!
In terms of flavors, we still love vanilla and strawberry, don't we? In any case, I hope that this Starred vanilla strawberry cake will please you as much as it does me.

- 180 g soft butter
- 180 g powdered sugar
- 2 whole eggs
- 1 tsp natural vanilla extract
- 180 g of flour
- 1 cc of baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 250 g Gariguette strawberries
- 4 tbsp of milk
- Pink gel coloring optional
- 125 g soft butter
- 170 g powdered sugar
- 2 whole eggs
- 2 tsp natural vanilla extract
- 170 g of flour
- 1,5 cc of baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 160 ml ribot / buttermilk
- 130 g white chocolate pastry
- 3 tbsp of whole liquid cream
- Strawberries for decoration
- Preheat the oven to 180 ° traditional heat.
- Start with the strawberry cake: in a blender, mix the strawberries and the milk.
- In the bowl of the food processor, beat the soft butter and sugar for a few minutes. Add the eggs, vanilla, mixed strawberries. Apart from mixing the dry ingredients, then incorporate them into the previous dough. Add a touch of pink coloring. Pour the dough into a cake mold. Cook for 45 minutes. Leave to cool on a rack. Once cold, cut into slices and using star cookie cutters, cut one star per slice.
- Make the vanilla cake: in the bowl of the food processor, beat the soft butter and sugar for a few minutes. Add the eggs, vanilla. Separately, mix the dry ingredients and then incorporate them into the dough, alternating with the milk. Line the bottom of the cake tin with the dough then arrange the pink stars vertically, with no space between them. Cover with the rest of the vanilla dough then bake for 45 minutes. Leave to cool on a rack.
- Make the white chocolate ganache: in a saucepan, heat the cream and white chocolate over low heat. Wait until the ganache is lukewarm then cover the cake before decorating it with strawberries.

Hello,
Your cake looks really good..
I have a little question, can you really taste the strawberries?
I have a child who doesn't like chocolate (yes, I know, bad luck.... :( ) and for his birthday he asks me for a cake with strawberries in it......
Thank you in advance for your reply
Sandrine
Hello Sandrine, if we take gariguettes, we can smell the strawberry taste, but we can add more strawberries if necessary.
How beautiful is this surprise cake! I have to try this, my daughter would love it I'm sure!

It's true that strawberries make you want some, especially the gariguette ones, they have much more flavor than the others. ^^

Hello Hello,
What a lovely treat. The visual is super cute, I love it.
Have a nice day, and see you soon!
It looks very good but can we reduce the quantities (sugar + butter) because I would like to make this cake for a friend, but she is very careful about her weight...
Hello Noémie, this cake is not too fatty or too sweet, but yes you can reduce the butter and sugar if you wish (not by much otherwise you risk losing some of the softness).
Thank you very much for answering me I made this cake and everyone loved it thank you for this delicious recipe!! ;)
Oh that's great then! Thanks for your feedback
This cake is superb with this insert. A sweet vanilla scent with strawberry, a delight, I have no doubt. Have a nice day
Hello, can we use simple 1/2 skimmed milk in the vanilla biscuit base. I don't want to throw away the rest of the started brick.
Thank you
Hello Valerie, it's possible but it will be less soft than fermented milk. To make it at home (using semi-skimmed milk), here is my recipe: https://liliebakery.fr/recette-babeurre-lait-fermente/
Hello
I would like to make this cake but is it possible to make it in strawberry / vanilla marble?
Thanks in advance ☀️
Hello Emilie, you can try to make it marbled: you would have to prepare the two doughs in parallel and pour them alternately into your mould. See you soon :)
